Increased Astigmatism and white spot in pupil

by My Little Angel, Feb 06, 2007 12:00AM
My 5 yr old daughter was diagnosed witha severe astigmatism and catract in one eye in novemeber of 2006.  Just took her back for check up last week and her astigmatism is worse and now I can see a white spot in her pupil. Eye doc said cataract now in line of vision, but how come I can see a white spot now and she said that her vision would get worse and worse and we don't know why.  Doc said she hopes it will stabalize by the time she is in 3rd grade, but at this rate she will be blind in at least one eye.  Should we take her to a better place, we took her to a pediactirc eye doc.  Her script has gone up 1/4 point in the eye with the cataract and 1.0 point in the other eye.  Desparately seeking some help or advise.  My duaghter also has some genetic disorders - 20 nail dystrophy, spun glass hair, and very bad teeth. Help

no recommendation of surgery for the cataract?

you probably need a second opinion.  the 'white dot' you see is assumedly the cataract.

We just got a second opion.  Came to same diagnosis as last one, getting a third opion.  The white dot I did found out was the cataract but both docs have said cataract not a problem.  Thank you

Also, has been compaining of some discomfort and pain to eye with cataract. And the second doc did say that she may want to do patching, but she does not have a lazy eye so would patching even possible help?

wow.  no, i personally would not recommend patching the non-cataractous eye...
