Is this benign or disease related?

I am myopic (-6.00) with astigmatism and wear glasses. In the past month or so, I have noticed many small, pinpoint, rapid moving sparks of light in my field of vision of both eyes. They are not floaters as these move independent from my eye movement and looking at any light colored or patterned background (such as clothing or carpeting) will enhance or make them more prominent.  I also see them at night when in bed and looking up at the ceiling without my glasses on.  I have been examined by two different ophthalmologists in the past month and they have pronounced my eyes as medically healthy.  Is this what is referred to as 'entopic phenomena' or is it part of a disease process not detected by the doctors I have consulted?  I look forward to your reply.  Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, Doctor!  I have a follow up question for you on the same topic.  Is there a difference between "visual snow" and entopic/Scheerer's phenomenon or is it the same type of thing?  Is it also considered to be benign?

visual snow and scheerer's phenomenon are *not* the same thing.

visual snow is a *rare* "tv channel" type symptom usually associated with neurological problems or lyme disease.

scheerer's phenomenon is a totally normal and benign entoptic phenomenon that literally every human has the potential to "notice".
