Keratoconus and estrogen/progesterone replacement

by ConeyEyeLand, Dec 14, 2005 12:00AM
I have keratocnus. I am a 41 year old female. I have been prescribed estrogen (patch) and progesterone (pill) as part of my treament for Androgenic Alopecia by my endocrinologist.

I've read several abstracts and studies online which state that HRT can cause rapid advancment of keratoconus.

Is this true?

dont know.  i mean not only do i not know, as far as i understand it the profession as a whole is unsure.  there are certainly theories that HRT can progress keratoconus, but i dont think there is a definitive verdict yet.
