Keratoconus and tinted glasses

does tinting glasses help the vision in Keratoconus

by Forum-OD-MP, Mar 17, 2006 12:00AM
thats a totally subjective question.  i'll try hard to answer it:

does tinting the glasses increase your ACUITY?  meaning can you read smaller letters if the glasses are tinted?  NO.

but a lot, and i mean a LOT of patients with all kinds of vision disorders claim that they "feel more comfortable" or "have an easier time" when they wear tinted glasses.  they do not have increased acuity, but they are less light sensitive and claim that they feel they have increased contrast in certain situations.

so the short answer is it depends on who you ask.

your next question will be what color/type of tint is best for a keratocone, and i have no idea.

good luck.
