Loss of Vision

My 16 year old daughter has had 2 episodes where she has lost her vision.  She explains it as being like tunnel vision and then everything goes black.  The first time that was the only symptom.  The second time, she got a sharp pain in her neck, then lost her vision, then when her vision came back, she was nauseous and had the dry heaves.  The whole episode lasted about a minute.  Do you have any idea what this could be and what kind of doctor we should contact?

sounds like MIGRAINE.  its some sort of vascular response with the blood vessels in her head/brain.  its most likely either migraine (even if she never had a headache), or low blood sugar or hypotension like postural hypotension.

this is a good one to start with the general physician.  this is not really an "eye" problem...  it just has a visual symptom
