Post Operative Cataract Problems

I had my right eye cataract surgery in late September of this year.  The first several (3) weeks were rather uneventful.  Then I had pain, a feeling of fullness in the eye area and very poor vision.  I was put back on steroid eye gtts qid which seemed to help some.  I had the second eye done the 8th of November and am having the same problem.  The first eye has not gotten any better yet.  I am now on steroid eye gtts every two hours as well as acular, qid.  I am still having pain in both eyes, very light sensitive, a feeling of fullness in the second eye, pain and very poor vision.  I am some better in the last week though but above symptoms still present.  Any help, suggestions, or ideas.  I am borderline diabetic but very controlled.

you likely have anterior or posterior uveitis.  nothing you can do but stay on the anti-inflammatories (steroid & acular) like your surgeon says, and hope for the best.  i guess if it gets bad enoug they may suggest reto-bulbar steroid injections.  keep all of your appointments...

you could also have cystoid macular edema or clinically significant macular edema (CSME) as a complication of your surgery or diabetes.  again, all you can do is stay on the drops.
