Rainbow Wavy lines in vision.
Periodically, my vision becomes distorted with and arc shaped sliver that is wavy, almost mirror like in appearance and has rainbow colored shimmers. I have no idea what this is or why it happens. There are no other symtpoms and it lasts anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours.

sounds like a form of oculra migraine.  you can have a "migraine" w/o having a headache...and this sounds to me like possible "migraine aura"

Thank you for your help. What steps should I take at this point? How serious of a condition is this?

I've had this same symptom. I did a Google search of "ocular migraine" and came up with a number of helpful sites and articles dealing with this subject. Here's one: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ocular-migraine/AN01083. Seems to be a relatively harmless thing.

Your description of this visual disturbance matches mine exactly -- an arc-shaped sliver that is mirror-like, with rainbow shimmers.  Mine only occurs after intense exercise, so after reading these posts, I Googled "ocular migraine" with "exertion", and learned that exertion can indeed bring on migraines.  Sounds like that may be what I've got going on!  Thanks for the lead.  I suppose I'll have to visit the doc to rule out other problems.

Here's one nice article I found-- http://www.djo.harvard.edu/site.php?url=/patients/pi/430 , although it doesn't specifically mention our "rainbow sliver" as an ocular migraine symptom.  Here's another link that includes an image of a rainbow-type disturbance, but it isn't as much of a "sliver" as mine-- http://www.migraine-aura.org/EN/Visual_Loss.html (about 3/4 of the way down the page).  I definitely don't get the "flashing" symptoms that seem to be frequently mentioned for ocular migraines.
