Retinal Vein Occlusion - Dry Eyes

Retinal Vein Occlusion - Dry Eyes

Hello, comments appreciated:-

4 years ago I had a retinal vein occlusion in my right eye. It was very small and just off my centre of vision. I immediately became used to it and never really noticed it. I guess my other eye/brain has comensated for it.....

About 4 months ago I started suffering from dry eyes.....the soreness, stingy, itchyness is one thing, but what I wasn't prepared for was the reflections it would cause within my eye and the more noticeability of my occlusion. I was assured by the eye-doc that my occlusion had not gotten worse, justthat the reflectins were making it seem so. On good days the occlusion would not be noticeable, on bad days I just wanted to close my eyes to hide the damn thing.

Slowly but surely I have either gotten used to it and once again my brain is blanking off the occlusion, or my dry eyes has subsided. Anyways, I'm due to get plugs fitted in a couple of weeks to try and permanently do something about the dry eyes as drops haven't been entirely successful.

However, last week and out of the blue I had another occlusion but this time in my left eye......it's only small and a bit further off my line of site.....but it has knocked me for six! My left eye was always the driest and I was previously glad that it didn't have an occlusion......but now it has and it's driving me nuts. I just can't get used to it.....it's always there in my vision even with both eyes open. It's when I blink that it's there and then begins to fade until I blink again.

Cholesterol = medium
Diabetic = no
Liver = having blood tests now.

dont know.  there is certainly not anything anyone can do to make you notice the vision probalmes from the "occlusions" less.  no drops, no pills, etc

the dryness can be solved sometimes by plugs.  thats not my personal favorite way, but a lot of docs & patients swear by it.  i usually try topical and oral dry eye therapy.  1st with over-the-counter stuff and then with rx medications, both topical and oral.

Forgot to say, I'm also ashmatic and have taken prescribed antihistamines in the past which I believe can cause dry eyes. Since I got diagnosed with dry eyes i've stopped all my prescribed medication except for my essential Salbutamol and Pulmicort inhalers.

Dry eyes and the occlusions have taken over my life now......I'm extremely worried about my sight especially since the 2nd occlusion appeared last week. I really am hoping that when I get my dry eyes fixed then the occlusions will become invisible (like before).
