Slight eye injury foreign object flew in mowing lawn

HI there im sorry to bother you

I am a 36 yr old very healthy female

I was out mowing the leaves and lawn when I went over a bed of mulch and I assume  a small piece of it is what flew out of the mower and hit me in the eye.

It hit very hard and stunned me.  I got inside and had pain but saw nothing in the eye.

Today 24 hrs later I see a small black speck on the white portion of the eye where I think the object struck.  Its very small but is a black speck.  My concern is if this is a particle lodged into the white part - or if this is some type of brusing?

I feel pain in the eye slight on scale of 1-10 its maybe a 2 in pain, I have an eye type headache but the eye itself looks good, no drainage or anything that looks odd.. its not blood shot or damaged looking nor do I have any blurring in the eye.

Is it possible this is a small splinter from the wood that struck  me? Or would I most likely be in lots of pain if something embedded?

If something is embedded how in the world is it removed????

Thanks for your help.  Since the pain is very minimal I am hessitant to bother my eye doc -

Help me if you could - I wonder if the white matter can bruise?

the white part of your eye turns BLOOD RED when it is "bruised".  so IMO if you see something BLACK in the white part of your eye that was not there before, it is likely in my opinion (and at least possible) that you have some piece of mulch or wood imbedded in your eye.  if that were to be the case it definitely needs to be removed.  removal is usually no big deal...in office procedure using forceps or something of that nature...
