Strabismus.Please help!

by vagouar, Jul 01, 2005 12:00AM
Hello.
I have recently been informed from my doctor that i have strabismus and more specifically that i have 12 prism dioptres (and as he stated the normal is 6 prism dioptres).
I have consulted him in order to treat an allergy that annoys me,but after i have asked him which could be the cause of the fatigue i have after some reading,he measured and told me that i have strabismus.
I wasn't expecting that,so i haven't asked him any further info for that.
Should i worry?
I should note that i haven't ever noticed any eye stretching or any other sign that could tell i have strabismus.
I would appreciate any advice on that matter as i am worried whether my situation could deteriorate in the future( i am 25 years old).
Thank you in advance for any help.

My two year old has strabismus, and unfortunately, this is only "fixable" before age five, at which time the eye becomes fully developed, and those muscles can no longer be "formed" correctly.  The good news is, it shouldn't get any worse, as far as I was told my our wonderful dr. at the Bascolm Palmer institute in Naples and Miami.
