Strange eye problem.

Hi,

Since about last 5-6 weeks I had been having red eye (lot of inflamation (inflammation)) on the right eye and only slight redness on the left eye. I went to the eye doctor (about 4 times now) and he had the lab work done to rule out the bacterial & viral infection. After prescribing Tobradex, Patanol, Ciprofloxin (.3% eye drop) he has now prescribed Pred Forte. With having using Pred Forte 1% for last three days the redness is almost gone, but the redness come back if I work on computer or do other activity. My vision has remain stable, however I feel that my right eye sight might be getting a little weaker (things don't seems so brightly lit compared to my left eye).

A strange symptom has been that if I sleep laying on my sides (both right & left), I wake up within minutes with eye pain and very red eye. The only position I can sleep is on my back with face straight up, and if my face turns sideways, I again get the severe red eye with a lot of pain. However, after laying on the back with face upwards for even a few minutes the redness disappears. The same problem happens when I bend forward to pick something, I feel like my eyes are feeling a lot of pressure in the back and it gets red very quickly.

I am not sure whats going on with me, my eye doctors don't seems to understand whats going on. I would highly appreciate if you could let me know how and where to go to pursue this case further.

dont know, either.  you need more testing.  could be temporal arteritis or some systemic inflammatory condition...

lets assume that your doc has ruled out things like angle closure glaucoma, etc (with the pressure feeling and the problems sleeping incertain positions)

there is no "obvious" answer i or anyone can give you.  get more testing.  a second opinion with another doc...
