Swollen lower eylid and some pain

My lower eyelid near my tearduct is a little swollen and it hurts.  The pain isn't too bad but it is enough that it hurts to close it. The problem started last night, it felt like someone was sticking a needle in my eyelid like they do to your mouth at the dentist. They say it might pinch a little, that is exactly how it felt, like a pinch. Then this morning it sill hurts and is a little swollen. Should I wait a little to see if it goes away or should I go to the doctor? Do you think it is serious?

if you are a contact lens wearer...no you cant wait. you must go in somewhere.

if you are NOT a contact lens wearer this could be a "stye".  try warm compresses for 5 min twice a day.  if it gets worse, go to an eye doc in the next 2 days.
