Unequal Pupils

Hi, For the past 3 weeks I have noticed that one of my pupils is larger than the other, this happens mostly when it is dark so I'm assuming it's the smaller pupil that is the problem and is not dilating properly.

I've never had any problems before, it all seemed to start when I had to visit casualty recently as I had something stuck under my eyelid and it scratched my eye quite badly. they put drops in to dilate my pupil, and I also had anasthetic drops, I'm wondering if the drops are anything to do with it.

My vision seems fine and I have no other problems that relate to this. I have been to the doctors, and also to my sister who is an optometry student, who has confirmed that although, both pupils are contracting when subjected to light, there is definatley a difference in pupil size. Any ideas what the problem might be ?? My doctor said not to worry, however when I went to see her, it was daytime and my pupils were the same size.

there are many things that can cause unequal pupil size in a young female.  some of them are serious, most of them are not.

the most coomon things i run across are "adie's pupil" and "horner's syndrome", neither of which are too serious.

you need to have a full eye exam to rule out other problems.
