Visual distortions and bouncing lights upon awakening.

by StevieR, Dec 23, 2006 12:00AM
I am a 43 year old male with Type 1 diabestes. I have been battling a stomach flu over the past week and recently changed my insulin. For the past three days, I have experienced distorted vison and bouncing lights upon awakening. I am extremely sensitive to light at this time, and any bright lights only aggravate the symptoms. The distortions clear after about 5-7 minutes and do no recur until awaken from sleep again. This is very scary and I was wondering if you could shed some light on the situation.

dont know.  any light sensitivity condition or perceived extra light condition that is temporary and occurs in BOTH EYES AT THE SAME TIME is probably either neurological or vascular in nature.  we could be talking about temporary low blood pressure to your head (like postural hypotension) or temporary high blood pressure or carotid artery disease and associated blood flow restriction or TIA (transient ischemic attack) or migraine or any number of a myriad of conditions that cause blood flow problems.  this is not going to be easy to diagnose.
