aching and watery eyes.

by Jallender, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
2 Months ago. Early december or so i started experiencing burning in the eye. As of now that has subsided. I havent experienced any burning since then. Not to long ago about 3 weeks ago ive experienced pressure in my face. As well as pain and aching around the eye. Mainly at the top and sometimes the back of my eye. As well as watery eyes. The watery eyes came before the eye pain though. I have not had any change of vision. Or any vision loss for the matter. Three days ago or so i developed ear pain, more or so a feeling as if my ear is clogged. Which has led me to think more that its a sinus infection.

But my main concern is for the past 3 weeks or month ive been waking up with foggy eyes. I know its fluid because every morning i wake up and wash my face and when i wash around my eyes it clears it up and is gone for the rest of the day. I only experience this after waking up or having my eyes closed for an ammount of hours. But im still not certain what may be causing this.

Im looking for advice or an opinion on what may be causing the blurriness every time ive had my eyes closed for hours or after sleep and the aching and pain around my eyes.

I am 24 years old.

as for the burning sensation, i coincidentally just answered a question like that:

the watery is probably related to the burning.

ear pain is out of my league, but could be sinus/ear infection as you suggest.

pain and aching around the eye could be eye related or could be sinus related, would need both eye exam and ENT workup to differentiate.

the foggy vision upon wakening sounds like either uncorrected hyperopia (farsightedness) or corneal edema (swelling of the cornea).  neither are serious.  a quick diagnositc test you can do on your own is this: go the the pharmacy, buy some MURO-128 eyedrops.  its hypertonic saline (or very salty water).  if your vision clears up immediately when you instill it, then you probably are experiencing some overnight corneal swelling which is really common and probably not too dangerous.  if the drops have no effect, then you are probably experiencing a refractive condition like farsightedness.
