complications of photocoag for retinal tear

by camera, Aug 21, 2005 12:00AM
4 yrs ago I had a retinal tear on R. eye This came from the gel in back of my eye not leting go of retina. Already had a cateract on L. eye from injury 36 yrs before. Everything went well, vision hasn't changed on R. eye but now am told have a cateract on R. eye and a film on the back of my eye. Dr. said if it grows any more and begins to "crinkle up" I will loose my eyesight unless I have major surgery to remove it. Both of my retinas apparently are weak, what is the risk to having the cateracts removed from either eye? The one on the left is very thick and the Dr was suprised I could see the eye chart much less read the 3rd line down. Also interested in any holisitc ideas. Thanks, Camera Lady
