could this be it?

hi doctor
i have made another appointment with the retinal specialist but i cannot get in until june 21. i have tried to contact her by phone to find out whether this thing (grey strek across left visual field) is something serious/urgent, but i cannot get her to return my calls ... so i have a couple of questions i would like to ask here ..
1) if on the first visit she saw no sign of retinal tear detachment, am i needlessly worrying myself sick (quite literally) till my next appoint. I keep googling this thing and am convinced she has missed something serious going on deeper in the eye ... eg i read of a number of cases where the dilated exam was non-remarkable and then it turns out they have a serious disease that is only located with an erg ... (AZOOR)
2) if this thing kinda flashes when i blink, could it be an afterimage of whatever obstruction is casting a shadow on the retina. eg, if there were changes in the vitreous that were casting a shadow ...
3) can veins and arteries cast shadows? or can you become "aware" of them ...

i'm sorry to keep posting like this, but i do live in a remote mountain community and the internet is unfortunately my only companion in this ...

1) it is possible, but highly unlikely IMO that something serious is being or has been missed.  i guess the reason the retinal specialist wont return your calls is b/c she apparently does not think your symptoms warrant emergent care, and neither do i.  you dont have the "classic" symptoms of an emergent situation...vision loss, 100's of floaters, etc

2) yes that is possible.  again unlikely to be emergent IMO

3) yes.  its a form of the "troxlar" effect, and once a person becomes kind of "trained" to see them, often the patient sees them fequently after that.
