i get this question seemingly a lot.  very strange.

a dialted fundus exam CANNOT EVER cause an increase in flashes and floaters.  i dont see how thats physically possible.  the damage that could occur from someone performing indirect ophthalmoscopy "incorrectly" would most likely be a form of "burn" like "solar maculopathy".  however i would think this would only occur in someone who was very INexperienced.  i dont see how a retinal specialist or any eye doctor who routinely performs this test could possibly mess this up.  i think the chances of someone damaging your eye by incorrectly performing indirect ophthalmoscopy are probably minuscule.
