jogging and eye

Hello, i am 24 years old, with very little myopia but with a recent vitreous detachment in one eye. The doctor said that the detachment is minor and i am not in any risk of detachment now or in later age, after a check of the retina. He found it strange though that the vitreous has started to detach in so early age and in an eye with only 1 point of myopia (i only need glasses for tv). He said though that it might have happened after an intense weight lifting etc. I dont lift any weights but i only do jogging occasionally. I recently bought a small treadmill to use at home, but i wonder whether the movements of the head when i quickly walk on it might harm my retina or vitreous. Even when i dont run but walk on it (and sometimes outside the house, at the road) i realise that my head moves up and down and i get a fear that it might harm something inside the eye. After the shock i got when i first heard about the vitrous detachment, im afraid that eyes are very sensitive in anything from bending to running. How can i protect my eyes (retina, vitreous etc) from any kind of detachment? Thank you and i'm sorry if my question sounds silly.

this is not a silly question at all.

but the answer is: you cant really protect your eye from vitreal or retinal detachment.  jogging/treadmill is not nearly enough force to have contributed to your PVD.  you just got unlucky.

i guess if i were you i wouldnt take up kickboxing as a hobby, but other than that there is really nothing you could do to prevent vitreal or retinal detachments.

dont change your lifestyle for fear of PVD/RD.  you're not doing anything wrong.  there is nothing you could do...no activity, etc to affect a PVD/RD except JARRING head movements like the kind you get in FIGHTS and auto accidents.  no normal/everyday action would have any affect one way or the other.

Thank you very much for your answer!I would like though to insist in asking that: is it preferable to avoid intense running on the treadmill and do walking instead? Im not a very athletic type, so i wont miss running. Will this be any kind of protection? Or do i sound very hypochondriatic? thank you again :)

no, it is not preferable.  there is no way you could move your head enough during any excersize like jogging or running to have any effect on a PVD or RD.  impossible.  blows to the head and/or eye are the only things to avoid.
