psuedotumor cerebri

psuedotumor cerebri

I was diagnosed last year with psuedotumor cerebri at the age of 29. I have been on 500mg diamox since April '04,yet I still have vision problems, migraines, dizziness and can feel the pressure building up behind my left eye. My neuro seems to be only concerned w/ my vision and weight loss.Well, I lost the weightand my problems are still here. I have no insurance, paying cash for evrything. The diamox is getting too expense and the generic doesn't work for me. Is there any alternatives for me?
It's getting harder for me to go to work everyday because of the blurry vision & migraines.

I was diagnoised w/PTC 19 years ago.  I have had about 10 spinal tabs to drain the fluid during the first year or so.  And have been on Diamox off and on ever since.  Every time I stop taking the Diamox the pressure increases, the headaches start back and my vision get bad.  I have had no problems at all with Diamox.  Now after taking Diamox for the last 8 years my Dr. and I had decided to try living without it.  I told him I'll be first to know if I need to start taking them again.  It's been one week tomorrow.

When my headaches were real bad the only thing that helped was a drug called Esgic.  Does noise and light bother you?

I was diagnosed with Psuedo-Tumor Cerebri when I was 15, I had at least 10 spinal tabs, I was taking 3000mg of diamox..so i know I know what you mena about the expensive part. Eventually they found that even with all the medicine they put me on, it still wasn't enough. I had a Shunt put in right beside my spinal cord. (Integra NeuroSciences Hyrocephalus Valve) Eventually everything started to geth better, headaches started to recede but by the time the doctors finally found how to fix everything I had lost half of my vision.
oh yeah! FYI:
If you go to see an opthomologist ask about a visual field( a test that sees how much vision you can see from the side of your eye) I'm you probaly know that though
