reddness and glaucoma

My boyfriend is usin Cosopt and his eyes are horriblly red and itch.  He has been on his long enough for it to go away if it is.  I ask him if has told the doctor about this sideeffect and he said he has and trhat it is normal.  I can not believe this.  I am a nurse and many of my family has had glaucoma and never had their eyes look like this.  IS THIS NORMAL?

Could be a side effect of the drop.  Could also be causing him to have very dry eyes for which he could use artificial tears such as Refresh or Celluvisc.  I have glaucoma and some the drops I am on do cause redness and dryness.  Dry eyes can be itchy as well.  Should check with his opthalmologist.  Good luck!
