restor Iol in both eyes

Three weeks ago I had restor IOL done to both eyes.
I am 48  male , I did this not because I had cataracts but so that I stop wearing glasses.
I have halos but that is not so bad .
My real problem which is causing me a great deal of anxiety is that  I cannot see clearly  at arms length.
Since I am a mechanic I need to work at that distance, also a lot of blurinious , the keyboard letters have multiple images if i close one eye at a time the multiple images are still there.
I read that this is a problem with restor.
What should I do.
The  place where I had this done dont seem to concerned.
What should I ask them to do?
Please , Please help .

had restor iol in both eyes, one in July, other in August, severe nearsightness and astigmatish.  I had two incision each eye. I have had dry eyes from hell, I've use all the otc lub, night lubs, and even use Similasan dry eye relief (holistic).  Now I am on to Restasis, one eye dry other eye always tearing.
I had smart plus didnt work, had to rinse them through, had lazer done to cautorize both upper and lowers, right eye still tears, left eye dry even on Restatsis, 3 weeks now left eye only on Restasis. The worse time of day is at night, dinner time on, I usually have to stop watching TV, cannot read because the dryness is so bad. My vision is wacky when reading, one minute I can read newspaper print, other I cannot.  I can see the computer screen and distance fine.  I think menapause is a factor in the dry eye battle, don't use ERT.
what to do?  I never had the option of the other IOLs, probably would have given me dry eyes also.

I had Restor implants in both eyes and considering the extreme nearsightedness and astigmatism I'm pretty pleased w/the vision correction. Finished the procedure and followup Lasik 7/14.
HOWEVER, I developed tonic pupil syndrome (fixed dilated pupil) in my left eye. Pilocarpine drops didn't work, so it appears I'm stuck with it, short of radical "sewing" of the iris. I'll be getting a contact lens for cosmetic purposes, as my light blue eyes make it very apparent the pupil is dilated. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

Too late for monovision, but not too late for a piggyback IOL.  If your intermediate vision continues to be a problem at three months post-op, you could try printing the following article to see what your doc thinks.  www.eyeworld.org/article.php?sid=3306

Thank you all to those who responded.
I have a question regarding what HODDY 44 had to say.
The doctor said at three months he will use laser touch up to remove astigmatism from my non dominant right eye.
Can what hoody 44 said be done then, so that I can get working intermediate vision?
or is that done when the restor lens powers are chosen.
Can somone clear this up as then I will be better equippede when talking  to my eye doctor.
Thanks again.

only 3 weeks out...this is totally normal.  do not be concerned until you are 6 MONTHS out.  just try & deal with it for now, maybe use some over the counter reading glasses as supplement when needed...but just wait it out.  it could still fix itself.

Have had restor lenses since July 10th and 11th.  Halos are still bad but I'm adapting to them.  According to my surgeon, the intermediate distance probably won't come in.  It's a trade-off.  It's hard to adapt when so many things at work can't be brought to within 12 to 14 inches of your eyes.  When I bring things in to a close range to see, people wonder what the problem is with my eyes.  If light is dim or words are on certain shades of paper, even close up reading is blurry.  I continue to struggle without "cheaters" but it's not easy.  Frustration and anxiety have lessened, but having seen everything so clearly at every distance with bifocals, I still  can't help but wonder if I did the right thing.

I had the same anxiety as you, but it does take time for that arms-length vision to sharpen. You have bifocal implants, and so I assume that your long distance and near vision are fine. It took me a few weeks after both eyes done for me to feel comfortable without glasses for this distance. Talk to your doc, and I bet he'll tell you that you may use some weak drug store readers for the short term, and then find yourself needing them less and less. That was my experience. I never wear my glasses anymore. Give it chance.

I'm not a medical professional but I recently had cataract surgery, so I had done tons of research. You need to wait & see. You just have to hope that your brain & eyes will adjust to Restor as time passes. Or, if the problem is caused by your small pupil size, a surgeon can expand it, but a better result is not guarantteed. If you can't live with the post-op vision, a surgeon can explant Restor and implant monofocals. But it's uncommon to explant IOLs due to more risks.
