ulcers behind the eye

I have been diagnosed with an ulcer behind my right eye.I have been given antibiotic drops to use four times a day and a cream for night and one for morning.I have been told this healing could take up to four weeks.I am now into week two of this treatment and one day it is very painfull and the next not too bad-is this a good sign?
How does an ulcer develop behind the eye?
Any further suggestions?

well the 'behind the eye' part is throwing me a little.  most (all?) diagnoses using the word 'ulcer' are referrign to CORNEAL ULCERS, which are on the front surface of the eye.  they're not 'behind' anything... except maybe 'behind' your eyelids when your eyes are closed.

if you have a corneal ulcer, then no...pain or lack of pain is neither a good sign nor a bad sign.  healing may be taking place or may not be taking place.  the amount of pain is not predictive or indicative of how 'well' or how 'poorly' your recovery is going.  sorry.  just have to keep going back and having them look at it to follow your healing (or lack thereof).

oh...

"How does an ulcer develop behind the eye?"

again, its not "behind" your eye.  but as for how corneal ulcers develop...usually from contact lens wear and abuse.  sleeping in contacts is the fastest way.

non-contact lens wearers almost never get a true corneal ulcer.  i mean it happens, but really, really (exceedingly) rare.  99.9% of all true corneal ulcers are from contact lens wear.  usually contact lens ABUSE (wearing the same disposable lens for months at a time, sleeping in contact lenses, etc etc).

if you are a contact lens wearer, then you likely got this by abusing your contacts.  if you are not a contact lens wearer, i doubt you really have an "ulcer".
