uneven eye dilation

I have noticed that when I am in a dim room my left eye is noticably more dilated than my right eye.  Other than that I do not feel that I have any more headaches than the average person, and I am pretty healthy.  If I am overtired I have felt dizzy but my vision is good and I really do not have any other problems.  My eye doctor has told my in the past that I do have cateracts (sp?) however I do not know if they are in one eye or both.  My left eye does not test as well as my right eye in vision screening however I do not need to wear glasses while driving, my vision is good.  Yet my dr. did prescribe glasses for me.  When I told my GP of this he shined a bright light in my eyes and told me that I was fine.  I have to say that I am worried about a brain tumor...and I am going to go back to my eye dr. and ask him to check my eyes again, and then go to who ever he refers me to.  Thank you so much for any advice that you can give, and I will know a bit more of what to expect.

if you are a FEMALE, it is probably nothing.  very common.  old nerve damage (usually from an old virus) or Adie's Tonic Pupil (look that up).  having cataracts is unrelated.  you should probably go to the eye doc and have it checked out just in case.

if you are a MALE, its a slightly bigger deal, as Adie's is a lot less common in males.  you probably need an eye exam a little sooner.

but if your GP determined that the pupils respond in the appropriate way, (i.e. no "marcus-gunn" pupil or "afferent pupillary defect") then you most likely DO NOT have a tumor.  still warrants checking out tho

im a female of 26 and i too have uneven pupil size they have been like that for 5 years. when it was first detected by my optician i too got very distressed as i do suffer from ocd aniety and depression and have for the past 6-7yrs. and i would persistantly focus on my eyes and feel like i couldnt see after several trips for my eyes tested and several docters looking at them for me ive just got used to it and have learnt to realise if it was anything more i would have known about it by now!
they have evened up alot now and are not affected by kight dark deffinately look up adies tonic pupil
