years of visual problems

by bengalcats, Mar 23, 2006 12:00AM
about 14 years ago I had an episode where in my visual field I could see a grey blurry line, this lasted for a month or more and when I went to the eye Dr he didnt see anything and did not suggest anything such as an evp or to see a neuro opthmalogist for this problem, it eventually went away on its own.it never came back but since then I have always had blurred vision, but my eye glasses never needed to change in strength, so how could i see blurred when My glasses are correct? Sometimes when I get up in the morning my vision is blurry but most of it will clear up in a few minutes, i do get my eyes checked by a very good DR who said in January that I have very healthy eyes inspite of the fact that I told him my right eye lookes blurry and when I take my glasses off I can tell that my vision in that eye is worse than before, but again my lenses did not change. Also several times It felt like my glasses would be to strong and if I would take them off I could actually see better and I felt like a pressure was relieved from my head, is that symptom consistant with optic neuritis? It always goes away in a day or so. also can a person have optic neuritis that last for years with out any eye dr noticing anything, even my neuro was told about this and didnt suggest further testing. I am stummped. also I want to get eye surgery to correct my vision, I had a consult and eye test there, would they have noticed anything in my eyes that would say I had Optic neuritis and not to get the surgery? thankyou so much for any insight. :)

NO!

"also can a person have optic neuritis that last for years with out any eye dr noticing anything"

NO!

"also I want to get eye surgery to correct my vision, I had a consult and eye test there, would they have noticed anything in my eyes that would say I had Optic neuritis and not to get the surgery?"

YES.  they would have seen it.  ON is not some occult disease.  it is OBVIOUS.  it is unlikely that any eye doctor would miss it.

you do not have optic neuritis.  i mean i have not seen you, but it is highly, HIGHLY unlikely given your symptoms.  ON patients have totally different symptoms than what you describe.

as for why your vision is blurry even when the glasses are one...i couldnt tell you.
