16 year old with small hole, lattice

My 16-year old daughter has a small hole in a superior location, and a few patches of lattice, in her right eye.  This has progressed very slightly over the last year, and we are considering surgery (cryoplexy or laser treatment) to seal the hole.  My question is two-fold:  is one or the other of the two treatments preferable?  Also, we would like to get a second opinion beyond that of the highly recommended opthamologist we have seen several times.  Should we see a pediatric opthamologist?  And is there a retinal specialist (pediatric or otherwise) in the Boston area that anyone would recommend to us?

Thank you very much!

I don't know the specifics of this case, but in general atrophic holes in lattice do not need to be treated.

Use the search function for discussion.  Search for floaters, lattice, retinal holes, retinal tears.

Dr. O. (I am a retinal surgeon).
