4 yr old and glasses
I need help understanding my childs prescription...+3.25 +0.50 122axis in the right eye and +2.25 +0.75 085 axis in the left eye. Is this a strong prescription for a 4 yr old? We have never noticed any kind of problems, just went for a eye exam at the opthamalogist and she tells us he needs glasses. Should I get a second opinion?

The glasses correct for farshightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism (aspherical cornea).   It does not tell what the vision is with glasses or the total amount of hyperopia or about whether the eyes cross with or without glasses.

So you need to direct your questions to the Eye MD that prescribed the glasses. If you are not comfortable with the answers by all means get a second opinion.  Ask your pediatrician or go to www.geteyesmart.org
