7month old with astigmatism

Hello,
I had my daughter visit an ophthalmologist today because I had taken a picture and notcied a yellow reflection in one eye in just one picture and just had to make sure it was nothing serious. Well he found no tumor or anyything like that but he said she had an astigmatism in both eyes and needed  glasses. At 7 months, I am a little concerned if this is necessary, shouldn't her eyes still be developing? In either case, my husband had taken her to the appt so I only got the info from him which was not much. I just called the office myself and asked what the numbers were regarding the astigmatism and I was told  for both eyes it was "+1.50x180" AFter doing some researach I believe she should have given me 3 numbers but that was all I got. by these numbers, is this a severe or mild stigmatsim, are you able to tell and are glasses truely necessary at this age?

Yes there are three parts to the prescription: sphere  cylinder and axis.  So you are missing one number in each eye. If there is no spherical power the first number is 0.00 or plano (same thing).

The number 1.5 dopters of astigmatism is  medium in amount.  The first number is very important so get it send the full prescription.  When you talk to the Eye MD's staff you might also ask if any crossing of the eyes (esotropia) was noted.
