8 Year old son has Esotropia / Amblyopia

I have received wonderful feedback from  John C Hagan III, MD, FACS on my other post now this is the road that I have came to in my post 2. Does anyone else have any ideas or comments for me? If you would like some more info you may read it on my other post. Exceeds limits here. I thank you for the help..

MY POST 2:
Sorry to be such a pain, but this is driving me to know end. I have spoke to A. His new eye doctor and B. his old eye doctor. His old eyes doctors office was great with me and told me that his true diagnosis through there office was Esotropia / Amblyopia. They also said that there old eye doctor would recommend him to see this Ophthalmologist that is gratefully here closer to me. But upon speaking with his new eye care place I was told that there is nothing that the Pediatric Ophthalmologist could do for my son that he couldn't due except for surgery. And he is only a Optometrist. Is this true is there or isn't there a difference. I have called his pediatrician to get a referral from them for insurance due to me not believing I will get one from his current eye doctor. Was this right of me? Am I going about this the right way. I just want to help my son before it is to late. Thank you again for everything. ~Your Online Friend~

Dear heaven_love1224,

I would recommend that you speak with the first eyeMD who evaluated your son and find out what he/she recommends.

I spoke with them on several occasions. They are really great with me but unfortunately they are no longer my boys eye doctor due to the fact that we have moved. I have told them what has been going on and they say get him to a Pediatric Ophthalmologist. But yet on the other hand his new eye doctor that I have been contacting frequently upon all of my investigation has told me yesterday that the only thing they will recommend next for him is to wear contacts. I highly doubt this will work due to him being 8 and well he doesn't even like drops in his eyes. And in order for my insurance to cover him to see a Pediatric Ophthalmologist his eye doctor has to refer him.. I am so lost and torn about this. ~Your Online Friend~
