A spot in my left eye that has swirling lights inside it

Hello,

For four or so days now, I have noticed a small spot in the upper right part of my left eye that has swirling lights inside it. This spot moves with my vision, so I am assuming that it is fixed on my eye.  It's almost like there is a hole in my vision and this hole has a moving, swirling pattern of lights inside it. I have not felt any pain, before or after noticing this problem.  I am planning to call for an appointment tomorrow.  Do you have any other advice?

No, it is not a flash.  It is there all the time.  When I close my eyes, I can see it there still and the spot still has moving patterns of light in it. I cannot see it in my right eye.

I wonder if this is an Optic (eye) nerve migraine - Dr. O did say "something in your brain" so if you haven't seen a doctor yet and your anxious - know that I've experienced two "optic migraines". Both times I was anxious, thought bad thought. But situation resolved. Doctors tell me that there is no reason to be concerned with an optic migraine. Both "migraines" different from each other, and different from yours -- yet similar! :) - would take 2-3 paragraphs of discriptions to explain this. Instead go on line for info.

Are you describing a flash?  Also, see is you can see it in the right eye.  If so this is something in your brain.
