AMPPE

I was diagnosed with AMPPE and Iritis about 2 months ago. I had 3 visual symptoms at the onset. 1. everything looked like I was in fog. 2. A large grayish blind spot in the center field of vision. 3. a small area near the center field of vision that is always swirling black and white.

Symptom # 3 is my question for the doctor. I asked my doctor at the Cleveland Clinic (Cole Eye Institute) and she didn't know. It is not a floater. It is only obvious to me in the dark and it almost looks like a kaleidoscope of black and white. It stays in the same location of my vision.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it common in AMPPE patients? Is it a bad sign:( ? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

It is my understanding that your symptoms would be typical of AMPEE and not indigative of a bad prognosis.  This is the best reference I could find. Read it in detail.

Nicely put. I understand now. Thanks:)

BTW- I had another eye appointment yesterday and after 2 months on Prednisone the inflammation is still active. Kind of discouraging.

Yes it is presumptious but in a good way. A Eye MD at the Cleveland Clinic is presumed to have earned their esteemed position by superior training and skills.

Hello again Dr. Hagan. I appreciate you taking your time to leave the above comment. However, I have a question regarding that comment. I do not intend this in any way disrespectfully, but how do you know I have an excellent eye doctor? Isn't that a little presumptuous?

You are under an excellent Eye MD and she has told you all she can from her personal exam. We will leave the discussion open to anyone that has had AMPPE and see if they respond.
