ASTIGMATISM IN 5 YR. OLD BOY

by SanjayKhera, Aug 31, 2009 08:42AM
My 5 year old son has been told to wear glasses by his doctor. He has 0.0 -1.25 170 and 0.0 -1.25 15 for his
left and right eye respectively. Does he has to wear lences? Will it be corrected as he grows up?
Please help and suggest me. I don't want him to wear glasses.

Then get a second opinion from an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Astigmatism is not a disease it means the cornea is not round (spherical). Since the amount is relatively small and the same it both eyes it may not blur the vision much and is unlikely to lead to amblyopia.
