About sugery for eye floaters

Hi! My name is Nick and I am 26 years old. I have a big floaters in both eyes I was trying to ignore them for this past 10years. But I can't do that any more. The last year was the worst ,they increased so much that I can't ignore them any more.  I am thinking to do a surgery PARS PLANA VITRECTOMY.  I know about the risks that can hapend after the surgery. Can you tell me from your medical experiens for this surgery, how other patiens react afther the surgery? Especialy Iam intrested about patines on my age, have you ever had a patient on this age and If you had one can you tell me how did they react after the surgery. I want to know, Can I have a normal life if I take the risk and have a surgery?

Thanks a lot  and best regards!

1, There may be some clinical trials going on somewhere I don't know. you can do a literature search and find out.
2. There is only so much money and so many scientists that can be allocated for research. It is quite understandable that most of it is directed at diseases that can cause blindness or very bad vision and not towards something that is in almost most all cases annoying but no threat to sight.

Thank you dr. hagan; this is barb.  Appreciate your helping.  I do wish they had a safe cure; is there any clinical trial going on presently for floaters and why don't the doctors want to help us.  Thanks

I think you are ill advised to have a PPV for the common floater. The operation always causes cataracts and risks include infection, bleeding, loss of eye, retinal detachment AND PERSISTANT OR NEW FLOATERS.

There have been a few people that have posted here on this condition and the one's I recall were unhappy and still had floaters.

Hi Nick; i am 47 and this is barbara; i have floaters for almost a year; they are tiny ones and i think i was told that i have the phenomenon too.  This has not been a fun life.  How do you get beyond the psychological damage from this?  I hope your surgery goes well; I am looking into getting the yag laser done to remove them.  I hate seeing them squiggle around in my eye.  I now see a few small really tiny ones.  I wish this would end.  I heard about light therapy with led light to help them not to bother you outside.  I am going to try that in the meantime.  I hope you be careful what to chose to get done.  Barbara.  ***@****
