Acrysof iq patient card

Acrysof iq patient card

I recently had a cataract removed with a Acrysof iq lens implanted. Now I can see a little better but after my exam by an optometrist friend, he tells me that the toric implant is not correcting my astigmatism at all. The power is dead on but the sph and axis is not at all right. Does anyone know how to interpret the patient id card you get after surgery? I am trying to figure out if the lens was specified correctly but the wrong lens was sent and implanted or if the lens was made correctly and the specs were wrong.

I want to make sure I don't get the old run around when I go back to the surgeon. The specs on the card are:

Model SN6AT5
Power 167.00D - 3.00 cyl
Length 13.00mm
Optic 6.0mm

Any help would be appreciated.

The power you describe does not exist.  Likely the lens just rotated in the eye so that the axis is off.  If it was very recent they could go back in and rotate it into position.  If your surgeon says everything is fine and you still have doubts, get a second opinion from another cataract surgeon who can look at the lens and see if it is rotated from its intended position.  Your original surgeon would be the best for this though as they would have your original astigmatism and the axis that was aimed for with the lens.

Thank you for your comment. I have the ultimate respect for my surgeon and I am sure he will guide me correctly. He looked at the eye 2 days ago and said everything was perfect but at the time he also said that he must have made a gross miscalculation.

The power is actually 17.0D. Am I correct in assuming that Acrysof IQ model SN6AT5 will correct a 2 D of astigmatism? From everything I've read this seems to be correct. If this is the case, then the doctor made the correct order but Alcon delivered the wrong lens.

What is the standard procedure when this sort of thing occurs? All I want is to get it fixed. I am uninsured and have paid for this entire procedure myself and I can't really afford to pay for it all again. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
