After LASIK vision

by mom4444, Oct 27, 2007 09:00AM
I am 28 years old and had custom wavefront LASIK Nov.2006, I just had my eyes checked by my eye Dr. and she said they did an excellent job, my vision is 20/20 and my astigmatism is gone which is good, and my corneas look great. I didn't have a real bad prescription before but I was to the point where I needed to wear my glasses all the time which I hated and couldn't wear at my job and I would have never worn contacts because of the whole sticking my finger in my eye thing.
I don't know if it is just me noticing EVERY little thing since I had the LASIK (I'm a worrier) but within the past month I have really noticed my night vision and glare. I'm not sure why I didn't notice before or if I had glare before LASIK. I have starbursts and halos around lights (starbursts only with really bright lights) and flourescent lighting bother me (I'm sure it bothers a lot of people though) not to the point where I can't drive, the halos just look like a glow around the lights not a real circle shape.
I don't think I have large pupils, but I am on Celexa (for about 2 months) and I've heard that anti-depressants can make your pupils dilated but I have never noticed this looking in a mirror. Oh ya I do have mild dry eye too and still use drops now and then.
Sorry this is so long but I wanted to decsribe it the best I could.
Thanks you for reading this.

My suggestions:  return to your lasik surgeon and let him evaluate you for dry eyes and residual refractive error - especially astigmatism.  They can do another corneal topography or orbscan or pentacam reading on you and also another wavefront reading.  It sounds like you are doing pretty well - but just get it checked out to see if there is anything that can be done to improve your symptoms.  I really don't relate your symptoms to the Celexa as far as pupil size - but this med could aggrevate dry eyes.  I can't make any specific comment on your situation without seeing ALL the diagnostic tests results.  Good Luck.
