After-effects of laser iridotomy

I had a laser iridotomy a few days ago (in the right eye) and have noticed that the colors seem muted (not as bright or vivid) and darker when I look out of that eye as opposed to the crispness of the colors in the left eye.  Could this be a possible side-effect of the procedure?  Thanks for your help.

You are right to be concerned.  I had iridotomies done in both eyes and my color vision has never returned.  I've been to numerous ophthalmologists with no answer.  There are extended discussions on a glaucoma forum on the website "Prevent Blindness in America."  You might spend a few hours reading the information which is very informative.

Make certain that your treatment is done by a "glaucoma specialist" as opposed to a general ophthalmologist.

Thanks for your prompt reply.  Is it possible that the colors appear muted in my YAG lasered eye as a result of the procedure?  The vision in that eye was not as good as in the other one, but I can't recall if the colors were muted.  I'm very cautious about getting the other eye done without having all the answers.

Dear lydwin,

I would definitely recommend that you see your eyeMD immediately and ask him/her to examine your eyes.  There are many different reasons why colors can appear muted and it is important to get checked immediately!
