This patient support community is for discussions relating to eye care,
cataracts,
glaucoma,
retinal detachment, eye infections,
misaligned eyes, intra-ocular implants, refractive surgery (
LASIK and CK), glasses, contact lenses,
amblyopia, eye injuries,
dry eyes, ocular allergy,
eye pain and discomfort, pediatric eye disorders, eyelid and tearduct surgery, poor eyesight, and eye surgery.
Wet is treated with medicine injected into the eye either VEGF inhibitors (lucentis, avastin) or steroid (macugen) or photodynamic dye thereapy (Visudyne).
Dry is treated with diet (low fat, low calorie, fruits, vegs, fiber, fish, berries, nuts), lutein rich foods (spinach, collards, etc), not smoking, protecting eyes from sunlight, daily amsler grid to check for conversion into wet type, AREDS supplements (2 or 4 per day) Preservavistion, Eye Caps, Ocuvite PLUS a multivitamin, and fish oil pills (2 or 3 per day).
