There are two types of ARMD  dry ( 90% of the cases) or wet ARMD (10% of cases).

Wet is treated with medicine injected into the eye either VEGF inhibitors (lucentis, avastin) or steroid (macugen) or photodynamic dye thereapy (Visudyne).

Dry is treated with diet (low fat, low calorie, fruits, vegs, fiber, fish, berries, nuts), lutein rich foods (spinach, collards, etc), not smoking, protecting eyes from sunlight, daily amsler grid to check for conversion into wet type, AREDS supplements (2 or 4 per day) Preservavistion, Eye Caps, Ocuvite PLUS a multivitamin, and fish oil pills (2 or 3 per day).
