Allergy Eye or Worse ? ?

My husband got up this morning and his eye has what seems to be a water bubble over his left eyelid. The bottom rim of his top lid is also swollen, making it hard to see through. The water bubble resembles a fat roll of water on the top, next to his nose. Can you tell me what this might be or how to treat it ? ?

Allergies or infection on an inflammatory condition are all possibilities.  Get into to see an ophthalmologist right away so see what is going on.  Cool compresses, allergy meds and allergy drops might be something someone might try in the meantime but I would not hesitate to be seen right away since the problem is so impressive.  Remember I am not your doctor and cannot give you personal advice on your treatment.  Please see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
