Amblyopia -- medical and/or educational ?

Why does it seem like insurance companies and school districts pass on providing (coverage) vision therapy for students diagnosed with amblyopia?  As for schools, even though it was evident that my child had difficulty recognizing symbols and connecting them to sound, they would not offer vision therapy if there was a medical diagnosis.  On the other hand, insurance companies see this as a true educational issue and will not cover vision therapy either.   It is very expensive to cover the entire vision therapy which seems like 3 visits a week for aprox 6 months.

Every branch of government from national to local is going broke SPENDING OUR GRANDCHILDREN LEGACY. There simply is not enough money in the world for school districts to pay for visual therapy which by the way has not scientific evidence that it works. What they do provide is remedial reading and that works find for slow readers.
