Amblyopia in Adults

Just posting a general question...
I've seen a lot of doctors (both MD and OD) regarding adult ambloypia caused by strabismus. Why is there such a large deviation or difference of opinion in different doctors on whether or not amblyopia can or cannot be treated in adults? Is it still because studies such as those conducted by McGill University (tetris) are relatively new?

As an adult with Amblyopia (corrected 20/25 one eye to 20/40 other eye) is there anything to pursue to increase visual acuity? Or is this pretty much it for now?

Yes the studies that amblyopia from birth or child hood has traditionally responded poorly to treatment in adults. Treatment much much more successful if started before age 7   The new studies were done on removing congenital cataracts  not due to striabismus or aneisometrophia.

The new research does not suggest that treatment is highly successful just some better.
