Amsler GRid question

Amsler GRid question

Dear Doctor
I have a problem with the Amsler Grid having missing bits. I told my retina specialist but he could see no problems with my mucular. He had me do an OCT and then said he didn't know what caused my problems with the Amsler Grid but not to worry.
Well, I am worried since everything I read on the interent about missing bits and the Amsler Grid suggest Macular Degeneration.
He said I do not have that.
I am 39, do not smoke, eat pretty healithy and take supplements. What is is chance my doctor was wrong (I did see another doctor and he didn't find anything wrong either but he was just doing a check-up).
How reliable is the Amsler grid compared with OCT and central vision Field Test? The last two, no significant problems.
Thank YOu

The macular OCT and exam by a retina specialist and visual field are MUCH more accurate than the Amsler. The Amsler grid is a screening exam the others are exact tests.

You can continue to check your eye with the amsler grid but if nothing changes and there are no more new distorted or missing areas then a yearly exam is all you need.
