Anisocoria, new eye surgery procedures?

Anisocoria, new eye surgery procedures?

I have had Anisocoria since 1982, from a head injury in a car accident , from a hit with a tire that I suffered a  brain haemorreage and coma for a few days, my right eye muscle was out of wack and flew up to the right, they pulled it back down  and i didnt really give my eye enough rest and use the glasses with the holes for long being stubborn in age at the time. I dont think that this made much difference anyways in my resulting condition, other than my eye is more droopy than it should be compared to the other. My condition is more pronounced than most and I want it fixed. Im tired of feeling like a freak show to those who have never seen me  or anyone like me before.

All tho I have been told it can be fixed tho I would probably not have sight in that eye again. That being my option at the time, I didnt want to take a chance and lose sight in both eyes if something should happen to my left eye. Are there any surgery options updated that can fix it by now that are not concidered cosmetic? In Canada. Or could I /should I get my other pupil to match? And have my perscription changed altogether, I see better out of my "big eye" except for in bright light.

Aneisocoria means one pupil is larger than the other, droopy eye usually means the lid is lower (ptosis).

Some forms of pupil problems can be improved but they will not make the pupil react and look normal. Also it can make it harder to examine the back of the eye. Risks will include infection, bleeding, small risk loss of eye.

Get 2 or 3 opinions before you decide to do anything.

Thank you for your reply, I wonder tho is any lasik surgery available? I was told it could be fixed, tho  possibly at cost of my vision. There are not many Specialists in the community where I live. The one I saw many years ago has since retired. The Optometrist I have seen claims I would go blind, tho I am desperate to find a way to look normal again, but not at the cost of my vision. I was hoping after so many years there would be progress by now in this area. As my condition is more pronounced than others.

I am unclear how well you see out of each eye and what the refractive error is. Generally I discourage lasik on one eyed patients or people with only one "good" eye both for the risks of surgery (usually small) but because I advise people with onely one good eye to wear glasses for protection at all times.

I see very well other than feeling near sighted in one eye and far sighted in the other tho the Eye Dr I see says that is not the case. I am near sighted in my normal eye with the big pupil ( right eye) I can see more clearly except I need a bifocal in my glasses to read. I can see out of both eyes fine except for the blurr that I had before my head injury and the light that gets into my eyes is harsh at times.( Direct sunlight). Most of the time when online or reading I do not wear any glasses at all.I wear them when I am out and about and watching tv. They are tinted but not enough for sunlight and snow.

I would like to try Lasiok to see as l;ong as its not cosmetic then hopefully my medical will cover it.
