Any New Treatment to Restore Sight

I have had Ocular Histoplasmosis for almost fourteen years now.  I have seen new technology come out lately about restoring vision.  I am curious to know if there are any new advances on our side.  My vison is my left eye is 20/400 and my right is 20/80 which varies to 20/60 at times.

Dear Carla75946,

I would recommend that you speak with your retinal specialist about what options are available for your particular condition.  It is my guess from your history that the vision is reduced from abnormalities in your central vision.  Sometimes, the macular tissue can be translocated to an area where normal underlying tissue is present.

Visual loss from POHS is almost always the result of new blood vessel growth under the retina (choroidal neovascularization, CNV). Today, this is entirely treatable with the new anti-VEGF drugs that are available if caught early enough. However, the damage may already have been doen in your case but it may not be too late to save some vision so get to your eye MD ASAP. I have read many reports of vision being restored years after damage from CNV.
