Astigmatism of infants

Astigmatism of infants

My 33 month old daughter was recently seen general eye checkups. The doctor who saw her told me that she has a bilateral astigmatism of 3.0. He said we should follow up till her age of 3 and a half years, but did not give us more infomation than that. I just wanted to know a little more about this, what the likelihood of her outgrowing it is, how much it may be affecting her vision, will she probably need glasses at an early age?
Thank you
Best Regards
Homa

Was she seen by a pediatric ophthalmologist?  What country do you like in?

I am not a pediatric ophthalmologist.  However, I would be concerned about visual development(amblyopia) with that much astigmatism.
