Baby's pupil

I noticed on my 6 week old baby boy that there is a triangular shaped piece missing out of the upper inner side of the pupil of his right eye. I asked my Dr. about this and he said he had never seen anything like that before.  He seems to be following objects with both eyes and his pupils seem to be dilating normally.  We do not have pediatric opthamolagists in our area, so I'm just wondering if this is normal or it could be something serious? If so, should I get it checked out right away?

Did you ever find out what it was? My 11 week old daughter has the exact same thing.

See a pediatric ophthalmologist   find one at www.aao.org   It sounds like an iris coloboma sometimes associated with problems inside the eye
