Back pain that is also affecting my left eye/pupil

by AshGreenEyed, Jun 02, 2008 06:42AM
Just over a year ago, my neck starting hurting quite badly on the left side. I figured I had pulled something and went to a Physiotherapist to correct the problem. The people at this practice decided that the problem was actually not in the neck per say, but in the scapula muscle on the left side of my back. They took X-rays and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my spine, so that it had to be muscular. So they massaged, clicked and accupunctured me with only small bouts of relief. I was passed around to different physiotherapists when the one that was working on me gave up. The muscles on the left side of my back and shoulder began to shrink a little, so that when I stood in the mirror and compared shoulders, my left shoulder was much less than my right. I did stretches every day (still do) that relates to different areas of my back and neck, I used heat backs, muscle creams, used magnetic bed underlays and special pillows to help myself, to no avail. Along with this back, should and neck pain, I was getting headaches, the muscle/tendon along the left side of my throat/nick was/is extremely sore to touch, plus when the pain is really bad, my left eye becomes quite heavy (Best way I can explain it.) and the pupil doesn't dilate properly along with the other one. It always stays much smaller than my right eyes pupil. I am constantly in pain and no one seems to be able to help me. Any ideas of what to do next? This has been going on for over a year, and it seems like a very extreme case of a simple back problem when it just can't be fixed. I have asked is this whole muscular-eye problem is common and no one seems to know anything?

The eye problems should not be associated with the spine problem. See a neuro ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
