Best Pediatric Retinal Specialist in NY area

My son is 10 and has had a detatched retina.  He has a buckle around the eye and has had laser to reinforce it.  The retina is attached but he has a lot of floaters and yesterday started to see a large black shadow at the top of his eye which continues to about the middle of the eye.  Went to the retina doctor today and all is still attached but he sees a large vitreous membrane at the bottom of the eye that is probably causing the shadow.  Can anyone PLEASE recommend the TOP PEDIATRIC Doctor in this field in the New York area????  Please.  I want to make sure that we are doing everything possible for him and that he is getting the best and most current care.  Thanks!

Unless things are looking like they are deteriorating actively, I would wait for the retina specialist a month.  If things are getting worse, call them again and explain, they may find a spot to fit you in.

Thank you for your response.  I spoke to his office but they won't see him because he is 10.  They only see patients 19 and up.  They are getting a pediatric retina specialist but not for another month.  Any other recommendations?  Thank you!

Dr. Chang at Columbia has a very good reputation but I'm not sure if he sees children.  Call his office.  It should not make a difference with his age given his eye is near adult size at this point.  You should simply want the best retina surgeon around.
