Bilateral Vitrectomy

Hi Everyone,
My Doc. told me that I need to have a Bilateral Vitrectomy with Encircling Band, I have been doing some reading on various websites, is this a combined scleral buckle and vitrectomy? Has anyone done this, I need some more information on this. Please help I am suppose to do it next month.
