Black Spots

  Hello, I have been experiencing now for about a year occasional
  greyish black spots that will appear out of nowhere and seem to
  spin/fly around, but disappear when I close my eyes.
  Also, I have always had the floaters but now when I look up at
  the light or a bright white wall for example, I see thousands of
  swimming white blobs also. Both the white and black spots
  basically started a few months after I started wearing contact
  lenses. Any information would be very helpful.

You are describing what we call floaters.  The gel that fills the back portion of the eye called vitreous starts out as solid gel.  As we get older, the gel begins to degenerate and becomes more liquid.  Some of the gel material will then be floating around in a more liquid material creating the sense of floaters.  Floaters will drift in and out of your vision and they are almost always more easily seen when looking against a white background.  There are other conditions that can cause floaters such as bleeding, infection , inflammation, and retinal detachment.  For these reasons, if you have noticed a significant change in the numbers of floaters you should see your ophthalmologist soon for evaluation.  Good luck.
