Black spot in vision in right eye

I have noticed over the past few months that I have a black spot in the lower corner of my vision.  I see it more when I'm in the sunlight or looking at my computer.  It's very annoying.  What is it and what can I do to get rid of it?  I've always had pretty good eye sight and wear contacts.

You should see an ophthalmologist.  The major risk of new floaters is a retinal tear which could lead to a retinal detachment.

Yes it does seem to drift.  I find myself trying to look at it or "catch it".  It's very annoying!

I have an eye appointment tomorrow with my optometrist.  Do I have to schedule the appointment with an Opthamalogist?

When you say it could be something else.....what are the other risks other than a floater?

Most likely a floater.  Does drift when you move your eyes and stop?

You need to see an ophthalmologist. It could be other problems.
