You should see an ophthalmologist. The major risk of new floaters is a retinal tear which could lead to a retinal detachment.

Yes it does seem to drift. I find myself trying to look at it or "catch it". It's very annoying!
I have an eye appointment tomorrow with my optometrist. Do I have to schedule the appointment with an Opthamalogist?
When you say it could be something else.....what are the other risks other than a floater?
Most likely a floater. Does drift when you move your eyes and stop?
